Hello again! It’s been a while since my last post and I figured what better way to start off…again…than with a review of the web hosting platform I’ve using for the past year, SiteGround. I only set up a 1 year plan originally, which was a bit of a mistake, since it costs more than the original sign up when you renew. You live and you learn. Below are the options available to choose from, I went with the GrowBig plan mainly due to the unlimited websites feature. Not to mention, the GrowBig plan also has the added space, higher capacity for visitors and SuperCacher for great speed.

Without any hesitation, I renewed with SiteGround because they are so darn good. I have reached out for phone support a couple of times and they are quick, efficient and friendly. What more could you ask for when you’re dealing with something so important and sometimes really confusing?
I spent a lot of time researching different hosting platforms last year when I first created this website. I had never made a website before…blogger.com doesn’t really count I would think, huh? So I had no idea where to start and soon realised you need hosting to have a website.
So after countless hours (since I’m a big researcher lol) SiteGround seemed to be the best and have the most consistent reviews. Whenever I would do a comparison search, SiteGround was the winner. I gave them a chance and haven’t regretted it. When you sign up you are given the option to buy a new domain name or sign up with an existing one.

I chose the option to sign up with an existing one, since I purchased the domain to reserve it until I was able to figure everything else out. Domain names are so important. You want something that not only speaks to your personality, but will be something that allows you to grow. Don’t limit yourself. Take time to test out different domain names, I spent over a month thinking about one…maybe longer.
After you’ve chosen your awesome and unique domain name, the step comes to select how long you sign up with SiteGround, which after making this mistake myself, I strongly recommend signing up for a longer period than one year. Really take advantage of the discount you get when first signing up. Of course, if you’re budget is tight or you are just unsure if this is for you, the 1 year option is great to have available. When researching other hosting platforms, I noticed the lowest pricing not being available for 1 year, only the longer contracts.

After the promo pricing period has ended, the regular price is $19.95 a month. I definitely think it is worth the cost, but the promo price is such a good deal. I purchased the additional service of the SG Site Scanner and renewed it recently as well. I try to look at costs in terms of per month, so for $19.80/year for the Site Scanner, it is $1.65/month for added security and peace of mind. Helps me justify if something is really worth it.
If you are at all interested, I can make a detailed post of my step-by-step process when making this website. I’ve learned a lot over the past year. There are things you pick up about security, email, using parent/child themes, domain names, protecting your personal information when purchasing a domain, etc. It can be overwhelming, but so great once you get everything up and running.
